The story of Innvik
We have a proud history of textile production for over 130 years. Innvik was a natural choice for the company with abundant access to timber for the construction of the giant factory building, a short distance to the sea and boat traffic, access to wool and not least the nearby river for power development. Over the years, there has been constant development, improvements and expansion, and the whole thing could be called a Norwegian industrial adventure.
The old factory building. This will be the largest wooden factory building in the Nordic region and among the largest in Europe.
The factory by the beautiful Nordfjorden
In 1991, the company went from being family-owned to having new owners, consisting of strategic investors together with the company's employees.
In the time that followed, there was an even stronger focus on design and quality, and this led to investments in state-of-the-art design and production equipment. It was in the same period that the company's export initiative was also gradually launched. In 1998, Innvik Ullvare AS took over Sellgrens Veveri AS in Tingvoll.
In 1890, Wald P. Skaaden and Andreas Svarstad erected the building that became the cornerstone of a large industrial enterprise called Indvikens Uldspinderi.
The Storelva river, which until then had flowed freely and unimpeded into the beautiful Nordfjorden, became an important resource for the factory. The water in the river powered the machines. Around 1900, the factory was expanded and the first looms were put into use. The name was then changed to Indvikens Uldvarefabrik. Wool was now no longer just processed into yarn, but also into cloth and carpets.
In the 1960s, interest in home furnishings grew and the furniture industry expanded. The first collection of furniture textiles was ready from Innvik Ullvarefabrikk at the turn of the year 1960-1961 and this was primarily presented to the growing furniture industry in Sunnmøre.

There were many female jobs at the factory.
The factory in recent times
The company started the new millennium with full order books, growing domestic market shares, a stronger foothold in Europe and concrete building plans. In addition to investing in the building stock, there was also a focus on modernization. Throughout the financial crisis, Innvik showed a strong will to survive. All operations were gathered in Innvik and the Haugen family took a chance on continued operation. Today, the company is still located with all its operations in Innvik in Nordfjord, and is a modern textile factory with export sales of just over 80% of total sales. The company has local owners who are active in day-to-day operations and is a large and important workplace.
Factory premises first built in 1972, later extended.
