Produced in Norway

We're proud to have our production in Norway and to uphold its long traditions. We use bioenergy to produce steam for the dyeing and finishing processes, we work to preserve good quality and good design, and we have a highly skilled workforce.

In addition, we have a strong focus on gender equality and inclusive working life.

Raw materials

Our products are made from sustainable raw materials. Our biggest raw material is wool - it's 100% renewable and natural. We choose sustainable by, among other things, focusing on:

  • To process a larger share of the wool yarn in our factory in Innvik

  • Buy from reputable European spinners

  • Making demands on the entire value chain

  • Always prefer eco-friendly chemicals and dyes

  • Ensure that chemicals and raw materials meet the strictest environmental requirements, e.g. EU Flower

  • To prioritize the use of recycled fibers when developing synthetic fiber products.

This is how we work in the different phases:

Design and development

Together with Kvadrat , we are constantly developing new fabric products. It could be a new structure, color combinations or different wool fibers. We aim to be innovative, with sustainability in focus.

One of the most sustainable things we do is to develop products that are so durable and well-designed that they last for generations. We also work to ensure that our products can be recycled into new products - again and again.

We also use recycled yarn. In addition, quality and durability are strong in our culture. That's why we design products that remain in our range for many years.

Yarn experience

In the dye house, we have had the most to gain from energy savings. We started systematically monitoring energy use in 2015, and have made energy savings of 60% in production - with more than half of the savings made in the dye house.

We measure all the energy we use. We have optimized all parts and machines, and removed leaks and "energy thieves". No machines are idle and we reuse heated water where we can.

We're now moving more of our yarn dyeing in-house and only importing specially dyed yarn. We're building a new dye house, with new machines that will run on bioenergy.

We have chosen to certify ourselves according to the EU Ecolabel standard. This is the leading European label for products that meet higher environmental requirements.

Warping and weaving

Once the yarn has been produced and dyed, it must be cleaned and woven. Here, too, we have taken several steps to streamline machine operation and reduce energy consumption. No machines are idle and "energy thieves" have been removed.

We have become better at reuse. During weaving, jar edges are cut off. These are scraps of fabric that previously went into the residual waste. Now they are recycled through the Really project. This is a project initiated by Kvadrat, where fabric scraps become a quality material used for tables and chairs.

Around 20 tons of fabric waste per year goes to this project.

Decatizing machine

At Innvik AS , we take all fabric through a decatur machine, where it is steamed, stabilized and pressed. This means we don't have to wash the fabric product before it goes out to customers, which significantly reduces water and energy consumption.

A decanter still requires a lot of energy. We have recently renewed this machine so that it too can switch to bioenergy - and become far more environmentally friendly.

All our machines are lubricated with environmentally certified oil.

Final inspection and packing

Before fabric is sent out of our factory, it goes through a final inspection. We devote considerable resources to checking and repairing faults and defects. This leads to less waste and ensures good quality and high standards in our products.

We have phased out plastic and pack all shipments in paper.
