Use of Norwegian wool

Norwegian wool fiber is known for its strength, shine and resilience. We want to use more local raw materials and at the same time create an exclusive textile that will maintain high quality for a long time to come.

High quality of Norwegian wool

Good wool quality in Norwegian wool is far from a coincidence. We work systematically with wool quality in our breeding work. The ram lamb assessment in the fall is the first step in the selection of breeding rams. If the ram lamb does not meet the goal of having class 1 wool, it is not accepted for breeding.

Tension, gloss and durability

Norwegian wool fiber is known for its strength, shine and resilience. In the cold Norwegian climate, sheep are dependent on wool that provides good protection. The animals that thrive and do best are used in production, and this is how nature and the climate have left their mark on the country's sheep breeds.

Small and scattered family farms

Did you know that there are over 13,000 sheep farms in Norway? Norwegian wool is produced by sheep producers on small and scattered family farms throughout the country. Three out of four herds have fewer than 100 adult animals.

With care for the animals

Healthy animals provide the best conditions for good animal welfare, and Norwegian livestock are among the healthiest in the world. We have a tradition of good animal care in Norway, and there are strict requirements for care and housing, transportation and receipt at the slaughterhouse.

4000 tons of Norwegian wool

Almost 4,000 tons of Norwegian wool from sheep is produced annually. Each wool fleece is assessed and classified before it is sent on to customers in Norway and internationally.
