Martindale

The Martindale machine is used to test abrasion resistance. During testing, the fabric is rubbed against a standard wool textile with a given weight load. We run intervals of 5,000 circular rubbing movements. The test is stopped when two thread breaks have occurred.

All our fabrics have a durability of min. 50,000 Martindale.

Pilling

Pilling is the term to indicate whether small fiber balls, known as nubs, are forming on the surface of the fabric due to wear and tear.

This is also tested on the Martindale machine, with a different movement. The fabrics are rubbed against each other and stopped at 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 revolutions for assessment. It is evaluated on a scale from 1 to 5, where 5 is best.
